colors

I love you as
     the night
hangs gently from your

brow, playing towards
     a twinkle,
determined to

turn your lips (
     revealing the bliss
     meant for us)
gentle red.

I love you as
     the sea laps salty
on the sand,

receding
     waters smoothly
cascading

across the
     vast beautiful coastline
     before ebbing
into blue.

I love you as
     a tree stretches for
the sun for

it knows nothing else
     energized by the effort
before winter, after,

half of it will return
     in bloom, better (for
     the trouble),
into green

  1. This is such a gentle love poem, Philip which, as Jane said, ripples. I like your use of parentheses, the sea lapping salty and the phrase ‘ebbing into blue’.

  2. Gosh this is beyond beautiful! ❤️ Especially love; “I love you as the sea laps salty on the sand,
receding waters smoothly cascading across the vast beautiful coastline.” 😀

      1. I just read through everything you’ve posted so far and I really like your style! (Plus… I’m also a Star Trek and real science fiction fan, so there’s that!!) Looking forward to more from you in the coming days/months.
