Reflection on trees

What hope grows in the throats
of reflected trees, wondrous
wooded dreams pooled
together like a scarf spooled
down the back of a child,
not worried where it may wind up?

What are reflections if not
homages to something larger,
perhaps a portal for Autumn breezes
to escort colorful leaves
like thread, drawing a home
wherever they may wind up?

  1. Trees always seem to leave me talking to myself! They have so many stories caught in the circles of their years, and I’m always left wondering about it all! Nice write. Good luck with the book. I’m going now to check it out.

  2. Reading this makes me yearn to have the time to be able to write poetry again…wish I had written this lovely detail:
    wondrous
    wooded dreams pooled
    together like a scarf spooled
down the back of a child,
Enjoyed the image you chose to accompany the poem, as well.

  3. Reflections as homages is a particularly striking image. Delightfully constructed and rather impressively well-tethered with the partially repeated final line. Of course, perhaps a reflection was what was intended?
