I watch the cue ball bolt
confidently across
the green sea of a pool table
with expert precision
much the same way that
she bounced into my life
at a right angle
and by degrees knocked
me from my stupor.
Like that billiard ball jolted
from idleness I’m sailing
on an unexpected journey
through waters
uncertain of the destination
but confident that she
left enough top spin
to accompany me
wherever we roll next.

Wonderful! Remembering how you were knocked for six – keep rolling!

Oh, I like that ending. It’s a great extended metaphor, it works really well.

The poem does a fine job of depicting a fun game in more ways than one. Excellent work!

Such a great conceit, Phillip! Would you say that she has a bit of English to her? 😉

I enjoyed your cue-ball metaphor in this one. Hopefully she will keep you spinning for many years to come!
