If we made an Eiffel Tower
out of lemon pulp and limbs
would the neighbors jeer from moss-green door frames
or merely envy the taste? Would you offer
a cuppa
to the unarmed crowd
even if they couldn’t put their finger on it?
Or should we visit the Louvre
in picture books while we curl
up on the sofa
wrapped in a blanket
& each other
French-pressed
coffee raining on the table.

Wow Phillip, this is some wonderful stuff; coffee, poetry, France and all! I love the questions that so fittingly relate to the times of social distancing. To top it all off, more than the coffee, you are quite the multitasking prompter!!

Lots of good imagery and questions here. Seems like these two are very cozy and attuned to each other.

Tough decision but I think I see the way it’s leaning. Btw it’s “SHAY’s Word Garden”, not “Shae’s”.

Creative travel experience in clever verse. I really love the french press and the damp Parisian feel. Just envisioning some music playing in the background.

Love the play in this poem and the way it winds into coziness.

I especially like the coziness of the last stanza–almost a poem in itself.

I think more and more of us are visiting the louvre and other places while we curl up on sofas only to dream of safe travel to come once again.

Oooo I like it. French pressed coffee raining… only I saw it as from the sky. I am in the Pacific Northwest, Washington State, on the Olympic Peninsula. I think Seattle would be way smaller if it weren’t for coffee, expresso and fleece. Thank you for contributing.

Thanks so much 🙂 And you’re probably right – life would be harder there without coffee!
