Tanka #4

I crept through the room

shadows balancing themselves

while slumbers stitch dreams

maybe vacant and thoughtless

I woke her up nonetheless.

I stared in wonder
as the sky swallowed trees whole
starting at the roots
before working its way up.
The birds didn’t mind either.
