To Not Desire Dreams

Christine wrote a very excellent response to my poem today about maybe not wanting to play in dreams. Check it out!

Stine Writing

Play in your dreams tonight

or so you suggest

to those who are willing to

try the impossible

of sleep with a dream.

What of the nightmares that

so possess my mind

that fight with my world

to show that I am not

fighting for a job

or trying to wait on that last table.

What about the memories

that only come in sleep

to make the days

even worse than those before,

to darken the morning hours before dawn.

The dreams for all are not

majestic nor to desire.

They are for the darker side

of your mind

always coming out

even when not invited.

My name is Phillip. I live in North Carolina with my wife of 11 years and 3-year-old son, and at least for the next year, I’m on the right side of 40. (Both the interstate and existence, in years). I am a Tar Heel born and bred, and watch every Yankees game I can. My goal is to visit all 30 MLB stadiums in the next 10 years. I’ve been to 5 so far! Obviously I enjoy writing, but I also enjoy watching and reading sci-fi. I’m slowly attempting to finish my first novel, a “humorous” sci-fi romp which may be finished one day. I am a Doctor Who obsessive and choose Star Trek over Star Wars.
